From time to time, we fill up some buses and tour Ireland with some musical acts...just for the craic...
...AND THE CRAIC IS ALWAYS MIGHTY!
This week, we are travelling around the country with three members from the Minnesotan Celtic Rock Band known as the Wild Colonial Bhoys. For the fourth time, we have the pleasure of enjoying the company of their family, friends, and fhans (yes...FHANS!) while busing around the country and seeing the sites. We've traversed a few different routes over the years and have covered many corners of the Emerald Isle, as well as making a brief appearance in Scotland!
This time around they have played, and are playing, venues in Waterford, Killarney, Galway, and Dublin.
On Monday night, the 9th of November, the Tower Hotel in Waterford was kind enough to provide their spacious Ardmore Suite, enabling us to raise €1000 for a worthy cause -Pieta House (Preventing Suicide & Self Harm.) With the raffle being the highlight of the night, spirits were high and jet-lag didn't seem to be much of an issue. That being said, we would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the Waterford businesses that helped out this past Monday:
Frontline Audio Visual - Our rental equipment free for one night!
Icon Travel - Wine & Irish Biscuits
McLeary's Restaurant - Steak & Seafood dinner for two.
T&T Coaches (Our transportation for the week!) - Jameson Whiskey
Metalman Brewing - Hoodie & T-Shirt
Dungarvan Brewing - Trio of their lovely brews.
Sea Of Vitality - Mini hamper including their brown bread mix and some county made cheeses.
Flahavans - A large hamper of everything needed to keep a family prepared for a long winter.
We also included a few pieces ourselves (can't go wrong with Irish Pub Film DVDs!) While the band contributed a couple of copies of their latest CD. Finally, some Wisconsinites from the group of Fhans also graciously provided a couple of t-shirts and a large bag of misshapen (but delicious) jellybeans.
But the Fhun didn't end there. *wink wink*
After playing Scruffy's Bar in Killarney last night, they have two gigs left to go - Monroe's Live in Galway will be buzzing tomorrow night (Friday 13th EEP!) and Nancy Hands in Dublin will be rocked this coming Saturday. We'll be sad to see them go, but we have a feeling they'll be back again soon.
Catch us in March for the Hounds of Finn group! The first bus is full with a waiting list for a second (and don't worry, we leave seats on each bus to allow for much needed breathing space.)
